Team/division description:
TME Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, development and production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. TME R&D aims to strengthen Toyota brand in Europe.
TME R&D Powertrain division responsibilities are:
* Local development of powertrain parts for vehicles built in one of Toyota's European production plants. This activity is done in close cooperation with our European suppliers and our mother divisions in Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan. TMC relies on us to develop components that are matching European customers' expectations and European suppliers' production methods.
* Investigation of new European technologies through technical and performance benchmarking by model base development and/or test bench evaluation.
Your responsibilities:
You will contribute to Toyota powertrain system improvement for European market.
You will challenge to further improve performance (Reduction of weight, friction, CO2 and Cost) of future Toyota powertrain
As a graduate engineer in powertrain division your main responsibility will be:
1) The development of electric powertrain components and sub-systems:
* During the prototype phase, you drive the development process of locally-developed parts. You need strong engineering skills to support the suppliers in their development. You make sure the development is finished on time and meets all Toyota's requirements. For parts developed in Japan, you are the liaison between our mother divisions in TMC and other European parties (assembly plants, suppliers)
* During the production preparation, you make sure production parts achieve expected performance levels and support the plant in assembly of your components
2) To investigate new European advanced technologies in your responsible area. You have to research upcoming EU technologies, initiate pre-development studies, and propose the technology for application in Toyota's future vehicle.
Profile
* Min. Master degree in electrical engineering
* Interest and motivation in automotive, knowledge of power train and drive train system
* Good electrical and mechanical knowledge of electric motors and power control unit
* Must be able to conduct engineering calculations (Mechanical, FEM,…)
* Must be able to understand, analyze and make technical drawings & technical specifications
* Required basic computer skills: Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of 3D drawing & other simulation software is an asset (Example: Abaqus, CFD)
* Excellent communication skills, team spirit, time and project management
* Must be able to work in an international environment having relationship with diverse TME, TMC engineers and European suppliers
* Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality, out-of-the-box thinking
* Must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & spoken)
* Owner of a valid driving license
