Your department
Global Services is responsible for the development and implementation of ‘Life-Cycle Services’ to our systems worldwide and is responsible for approximately 20% of Vanderlande’s total income and is growing strongly. Service Operations is a part of Global Services and is an international operating service organization for our customers in the Airports, Warehousing and Parcel business units.
This department consists of more than 600 employees who work together to make sure systems are available around the clock for our customers to use. Alongside the traditional services, we are working in developing ourselves as a business partner for our customers.
For the opening of the new ‘Mechanized’ Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in Albert Heijn - Zaandam early 2019, we are searching for a natural leader with Service DNA to build and manage our service team on site. With 130 years of existence, Albert Heijn is the oldest still food retail business in the Netherlands. From their distribution centers (DC), the nearly 1000 Albert Heijn supermarkets are provided. The distribution teams are the linking pin between the supplier and stores with always their core goal in their mind, excellent services to all stores.
The new RDC contains a Vanderlande high tech solution called Automated Case Picking and supplies more than 300 supermarkets of Albert Heijn (https://youtu.be/VelcUcdm4N0). This is a part of the whole distribution center Zaandam where also fresh products are brought to the stores.
Your position
The Operations & Maintenance Manager (O&M Manager) is responsible for management of handling the system for the customer, as specified in the contract and plays a key role within the management team of Albert Heijn DC Zaandam.
You communicate, build and maintain the relationships with the key decision makers to ensure the maximum synergy between the operations of the RDC and the automated handling system. In addition, you see and create opportunities for an optimal use of our system in this challenging environment.
A core team of 8 service engineers is currently commissioning the system with the project team. The core team will be expanded to a team of nearly 50 blue and white collars. Meeting structures, procedures, staff onboarding and training, health and safety and many more topics will need to be detailed out with Albert Heijn in the 9 months before the go live. You have a proven record in operations & maintenance of high end material handling solutions and related automation. Working within an international and multicultural environment is well known to you. The ability to manage and lead as a team builder is significant for this position.
