Material Evaluation Technician Job Description

Team/division description:

Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of  attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements.
 
Technician team in Material Engineering Division is responsible for the evaluation and analysis of materials used  in automobile, i.e. metal, corrosion protection technology, organic material, fabric, paint and so on.
 
Our function is to qualify performance and the durability of European materials after various tests. These tests simulate the lifetime of the vehicle in all environmental condition that  the materials will be exposed to, i.e. stress/strain, impact, corrosion, temperature cycle, humidity and so on.


Your responsibilities:

Your responsibility is planning and performing evaluations of materials and parts applied to vehicle as following;

• Evaluation of paints and painted parts according to Toyota standards (decorative and anti-corrosion)
• Evaluation and characterization of metallic materials.
• Evaluation of plastic materials and parts for physical and endurance properties, including assembly of prototype car parts

• Tensile and bending tests by using of universal tensile machine for textiles, plastics and metals.
• Brookfield and Ford cup viscosity.
• HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR.
• Vickers hardness, Rockwell hardness, metallography sample preparation.
• Xenon light-fastness and weathering resistance, heat & cold climate simulation.
• Digital reporting using 3D scanning, microscopy, electron microscope including sample preparations

Material Evaluation Technician Job Requirements

Your profile:

• Bachelor degree in chemistry
• Safety first mind. High awareness of chemical handling in terms of Safety & Health.
• Knowledge of evaluation techniques, Microscopy, Tensile testing. Knowledge of GC-MS is asset.
• (Techniques used can be taught in TME as on the job training)
• Interested in computer techniques and visualization of data.
• Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Fluent in English, Knowledge of Dutch is an asset
