Quality Engineer Job Description
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Participate in Advanced Quality Planning activities
- Ensure that customer requirements and key lessons learned are incorporated into product functional specifications
- Facilitate and participate in FMEA processes to ensure specification requirements are fully met during process/design validation related to manufacturing
- Provide technical and administrative support as needed
- Assist in the development of dimensional control strategies
- Assist in the design and procurement of gages and instruments
- Interact with Product Development and SQE
- Provide advanced quality support for all manufacturing sites
- Support and attend customer meetings and customer process reviews/audits
- Use APQP activities to ensure design robustness and product manufacturability is delivered
- Review manufacturing processes, collaborate with the manufacturing quality team on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
- Integrate Program lessons learned in APQP activities
- Coordinate with supplier quality on the integration of customer requirements to the supply chain
- Internally escalate potential product/process quality issues and develop robust planning to resolve
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Quality Engineer Job Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical/Composite Engineering, or equivalent level of experience
- Understanding of APQP gate Review development process
- Understanding of Control plan, SPC, FMEA, MSA and GD&T
- Understanding of manufacturing engineering with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic forming, injection molding technologies, tooling, fixtures and gauges
- Knowledge of Microsoft AX or similar production systems
- Min 5 years of professional experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment preferred
- Black belt preferred, green belt minimum
- Can demonstrate previous work in accordance with ISO9001/TS16949 and other key standards
- Results orientation with strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time and work extended hours based on demand and production schedule
- Strong computer skills in MS Office. ISO/QS knowledge is a plus
