ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment.
Our vision is to enable affordable microelectronics that improve the quality of life.
To achieve this, our mission is to invent, develop, manufacture and service advanced technology for high-tech lithography, metrology and software solutions for the semiconductor industry.
ASML's guiding principle is continuing Moore's Law towards ever smaller, cheaper, more powerful and energy-efficient semiconductors. This results in increasingly powerful and capable electronics that enable the world to progress within a multitude of fields, including healthcare, technology, communications, energy, mobility, and entertainment.
ASML is building a strong position in the field of metrology for the semiconductor market. In ASML's Research department, new concepts and applications are being invented and designed for future markets of metrology in various fields of semiconductor manufacturing, always with a clear connection to ASML's lithographic scanner products.
The job mission is to execute high-level research with application to metrology requirements for future electronic devices in the semiconductor industry, with an emphasis on computational methods for overlay and focus metrology in lithography.
Job Description
Various trends in device manufacturing push optical metrology to challenging requirements. Applications like multilevel overlay metrology need to measure many different targets in parallel requiring a relatively large field of view. Ideally, a metrology sensor should imaging optics with a large NA and low aberrations to minimize crosstalk and to keep the target size small. This project will explore the use of “computational imaging” (CI) as a potential solution.
Instead of using a sensor with complex high-quality optics, we use a sensor with simple optics which leads to image distortions. The goal is to recover a “diffraction-limited image” of a metrology target via computational means. The work includes:
PhD in Physics, preferably with a specialization in Optics and with a strong Computational- physics background.
Experience
We are looking for an enthusiastic Researcher with experience and affinity with algorithmic research in the field of phase-retrieval and computational imaging.A proven track record for computational modeling and algorithm development is mandatory.
Personal skills
We are looking for a person with the following skill-set:
