The candidate is responsible for the integrated ASML illuminator design studies and the scanner interface specification of the projection or illumination optics towards Zeiss.
Job Description
- The candidate applies his or her product development expertise to define and steer the concept and detailed design studies conducted by a core team of mechatronic, metrology, thermal, dynamic, electrical and mechanical layout architects;
- The information obtained is used by him or her to manage the complex and/or high impact design choices of the optics module (illuminator) in order to secure the module performance;
- Establish the interface between the scanner and the optical modules, in collaboration with Zeiss SMT;
- Build and coach a multi-disciplinary project team in close cooperation with the project leader;
- Inform and align with the stakeholders, specifically neighboring projects, program, SE, ST&I and GL/FO.
- Able to balance the technical aspects and priorities with timing, budget and business aspects.
- Able to build and maintain a close relationship with the major supplier, being Zeiss SMT. This includes frequent travel (25% - 50%) to Zeiss SMT in Germany.
Context of the positionThe architect EUV Scanner - 3500 illumination (ILL) reports to the group leader Illumination & Dose Control, and is operational within multidisciplinary projects. This group is responsible for realizing illumination functions by providing the means and methods to enable excellent customer imaging, overlay, throughput and availability.The D&E Optical Column department is part of the EUV Business line of ASML. Its task is to develop, deliver, integrate and qualify the optical column including metrology applications in spec, within time and budget.

MSc or PhD, preferably Physics, with focus on Optics
Experience
- >5y experience as architect or lead engineer of highly complex module
- Demonstrated affinity to perform both detailed engineering computations and making comprehensive overviews
- A background in mechatronics and/or optics is a pre
- (Basic) knowledge of optical modeling and raytracing tools like Zemax and analysis tools like MatLab
Personal skills- Strong leadership and communicational skills (both technical and managerial), and ability to interact with different intercultural teams
- Excellent analytical skills and drive for quality
- Team player and builder
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to switch between high level discussions and detailed technical work
