Vanderlande – challenges in motion
This position is aimed at experienced Sales Directors who are used to selling € 30 million+ contracts. You aim at creating a winning team to win contracts for baggage handling systems and services at airports, and open doors for long term partnerships.
Your position
Your main focus is to lead and develop a team of talented and ambitious sales managers who have responsibilities in the EMEA region. You do this based on your vast experience in selling large contracts for projects and services. Your focus is on creating the preconditions to win, negotiating and dealing with decision makers, influencers and financers. Creating the winning team and spirit by combining the right experience both technical and commercial. You are used to building a network of high-level contacts such as board members and government officials.
At that level, you work directly and indirectly (with agents and local offices) to get the decision makers on your side, to gain intelligence to develop the right sales strategy and to give clear guidance to the sales support teams who support you with back-office tasks. Your customers are both airports (buyer/user) as well as general main contractors (buyers), having very different decision criteria. The ultimate technical solution is not always the ultimate winning bid, so you are able to strategize accordingly and set all actions in the direction needed to match the decision criteria of your customer.
You are used to long sales cycles and you know that selling large projects is like playing a chess game where you need to think ahead, knowing the roles of all chess pieces playing along in the game. You know how to build relationships with decision makers and influencers. Where the business justifies the investment, you build local account teams close to key accounts and give guidance to those teams to meet our commercial objectives.
For you this is not a profession, this position describes who you are by nature. You are independent and influential, both in the market, as well as within the organization. You set the strategy, you play the commercial game outside and you open the right doors to bring in the expertise of Vanderlande. Apart from your rational and analytical skills, you dare to follow your instinct relying on the vast experience you have in these kinds of complex sales processes.
You are eager to understand the business of your customer and you strongly believe in focusing on accounts which generate business now and on the long run. Finally, you are an experienced negotiator who knows how to get the optimum out of a contract.
