Meteorological satellites are an invaluable asset for weather forecasting and understanding of our changing climate, and their role will grow increasingly important with the next generations of our systems. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join us. You will work with all parts of our organisation, engaging our teams to embed quality into everything we do. 

Within the Process Assurance and Management Support Division (PRS) and reporting to the QA Manager supporting the Technical and Scientific Support (TSS) Department, the holder of this post provides Quality Assurance support to the activities, projects and services under the responsibility of the TSS department, including the definition of Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and processes and checking their implementation.

You will be committed to quality assurance and will need to be proactive, supporting your colleagues in identifying quality improvements and sharing best practice.  You will have the capability to run training sessions, when required.

The main duties of the post will be to contribute to:

• The definition and maintenance of TSS Quality Assurance plans in compliance with EUMETSAT applicable policies and relevant ISO standards;
• The definition of Quality Assurance requirements and processes to be applied in TSS activities, projects and services.
• The definition and maintenance of TSS process indicators, collecting and collating performance data, supporting TSS Performance Reviews and compiling related reports;
• The definition, maintenance and implementation of the TSS Risk Management process;
• Ensuring assessment of compliance of TSS processes to EUMETSAT Management System;
• The provision of Quality Assurance training to TSS personnel;
• The conduction of audits of contractors’ activities as necessary to ensure their established processes are appropriate to fulfil the contracts they hold with EUMETSAT, in line with EUMETSAT requirements;
• The harmonisation, standardisation and continuous improvement of QA processes and support provided by the Process Assurance and Management Support Division ;
• The performance of EUMETSAT´s internal quality auditing activity, and Project Reviews/Evaluation Boards.

Quality Assurance Engineer (VN 17/40) Job Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Relevant experience in defining, establishing and measuring processes, with proven experience in establishing QA plans and quality requirements;
• Experience in tailoring and applying standards;
• Knowledge and practice of the ISO 9000 series of standards;
• Experience in defining and supporting the implementation and measuring of anomaly and non-conformity management processes;
• Strong interpersonal, communication and team-working skills are required. EUM/VN(17)40
• The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French.

• This post is graded A2/A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,443 per month (net of internal tax) which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience.
• The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
