The PositionAs a Systems / Mechatronics Architect, you will work in a group of about 25 enthusiastic professionals that strive to continuously improve their next generation TEM products in cooperation with other disciplines, including Marketing. You will report into the sample positioning competence owner. You will work closely together with project managers, architects and technical experts from various technical backgrounds for optimal cross-functional alignment. You combine focus, technical vision and the ability to overview several complex projects in a cross-disciplinary setting. You will get a large influence not only at the start of the project by guiding conceptual designs and setting specifications but also by monitoring projects and motivating & inspiring engineers. You will own as architect the competence of Sample Positioning. Together with the Electron Optics and Detection architects you will be responsible for the layout of the system as well as roadmaps by defining the center of excellence for future products over the coming 5 years.
Specific responsibilities are- Concept development of high tech systems and/or Mechatronic designs, within cost, specification and time
- Setup system specifications
- Support, steer and motivate internal and external designers(suppliers)
- Expert knowledge of mechanical/mechatronic designs and explore new frontiers
- Excellent Product knowledge
- Define new applications, methods and processes
- Expand performance requirements
RequirementsYou have a Masters/ PhD or equivalent in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical engineering, system/ motion control or a combination that shows the relevant expertise. You have professional experience in high tech mechatronic constructions with:
- At least 5- 7 years of relevant experience and proven results in a similar role. Proven responsibility for complex concept designs.
- Proven expert experience with high tech mechatronics designs.
- Eagerness to get understanding of other relevant disciplines like physics, software etc.
- Genuine experience with defining product/technology roadmaps.
- A deep understanding on product development process and the relevance for professional industry markets
- The ability to translate the business strategy in profitable products on short and long term
