As a Design Engineer your primary goal is to develop understanding and improvements of the today being system.As Optics expert, you are part of a multidisciplinary (thermal, mechanical, electrical, software, industrialization) team that designs the next generation or improves the latest generation Laser in the EUV Source System. You achieve your goal by building knowledge of the product design, functionality and fundamental working principle. You do this by performing tests, analyze test results and built theoretical models. Once the understanding is built you define the solution and (re-)design together with your team and supplier. The last step is to verify the design change and work side by side with the industrialization team to also enable the efficient production and service activities. All with the goal enable cost effective EUV Lithography.Job Description Study:

• Perform tests on latest laser systems.
• Analyze test results and built understanding of phenomena that act as bottlenecks to increase system performance
• Create theoretical models that predict and verify the performance of the actual system
• Document and spread the knowledge within our team.

• Define solutions to issues or to increase the system performance
• Align these solutions with our supplier and/or review the solutions which our supplier proposes.
• Document the specifications of the designs.
• Review the design implementation and identify risks during the design phase.

• Specify and document tests plans

• Align recommendations and conclusions of the test results with management.

Master Degree in: Optics or (laser) Physics SciencesExperienceFrom ~5 year relevant experience in testing and designing high end (laser) optics setups with large teams.Personal skills We expect you to act as a professional:

• Professional communication skills (English is must, German and Dutch is pro). Experience in reporting progress and issues.

• Execute tests on a laser system
• Troubleshoot issues on systems

• Work with optical modelling tools (FRED, ZEMAX, MATLAB)
• Analyze system performance (excel, MATLAB)
• Create simple scripts and software (C+, phyton, excel)
• Perform tests and experiments (operate oscilloscope, quantum composer, etc. and general electronics, hardware and software installation and setup)
