ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment.
Our vision is to enable affordable microelectronics that improve the quality of life.
To achieve this, our mission is to invent, develop, manufacture and service advanced technology for high-tech lithography, metrology and software solutions for the semiconductor industry.
ASML's guiding principle is continuing Moore's Law towards ever smaller, cheaper, more powerful and energy-efficient semiconductors. This results in increasingly powerful and capable electronics that enable the world to progress within a multitude of fields, including healthcare, technology, communications, energy, mobility, and entertainment.
As a part of ASML's Development and Engineering department, you will provide the definition of solutions to efficiently execute service to ASML machines at the customer. The solutions have to provide optimum support to field service engineers from the moment that the machine stops (whether it is a scheduled down or unscheduled down) to the machine being fully operational again.
Your solutions emerge from a thorough understanding of sound software engineering practice and take low effort to develop and maintain. You are leading a team of architects in the decomposition of the solution in various building blocks and defining the design of each building block. You choose for system-wide experience and drive for successful customer deployment.
Job Description
Your task as Functional Cluster Architect is to maintain and align with stakeholders the roadmap for End to End system Diagnostics, Access, Repair and Recovery and to translate architectural concepts and ideas into manageable building blocks.
The products are complex and cover a range of platforms. In the factory an IT project integrates the solution in SAP for which the project delivers plugins. In the customer environment the calibration software must run on a dedicated equipment performance server.
The product does include a significant set of changes in the ASML equipment software (developed in C, C++).All of these products are used in factory and in field (e.g. Korea, Taiwan, USA). They are to be built on a single code base to reduce development time and fast roll out to both environments. This makes stakeholder management and alignment another important part of your tasks.
The Functional Cluster Architect has or builds knowledge on the entire execution chain. This person can break down the roadmap into consistent architectural parts for respectively Diagnostics, Access & Repair, Recovery and server facilities & infrastructure such that the Product Architects each of these parts know how to further detail and define these parts.
You are able to guard the correct implementation of the chosen architecture such that all parts work seamlessly into one software suite.
You work together with architects in the ASML IT environment; you yourself operate in ASML D&E.
You are willing to become a product specialist, on top of a software architect. In the 30 – 40 person D&E design team you play a crucial knowledge contribution role in the selection of the best Java EE frameworks to meet the requirements.
Your deliverables are design documentation, critical reviews of documents written by others, support (integration) testing of the software and support issue resolution during the implementation.
You share the responsibility for the correct end product with project- and group leader(s), system engineers.
