Manager Process Engineering Job Description

Position and department
The Process Engineering department encompasses both the Baggage Handling and Warehouse, Parcel & Postal business. A relatively new and fast growing function within the Global Services arena, Process Engineering focuses on process improvement as a value adding service to our customers. In addition, PE is developing into an increasingly important function for internal process and system performance improvement. From optimizing performance of existing installations to incorporating the latest developments into new installations, Process Engineering is evolving internally into a business partner and externally a contributor to solid client relationships.With expanding business worldwide, the department is growing rapidly. It currently holds approximately 20 process engineers worldwide, with an expected total headcount of 30 by end 2017.

Role and objective
As Manager Process Engineering, you will be the driving force behind the continued development of the Process Engineering department. You will build a strong international team, manage customer opportunities and develop team competencies to fit the business needs.
With this team, you will be responsible for Process Engineering in the early days of a project life cycle till, the go live of a project and the service opportunities and challenges during the full operational life.Externally, you actively manage relationships with customers on (pro-active) process and performance improvement. You will create and expand your network with internal stakeholders (e.g. Service department, Project department and Sales) and with Vanderlande customers, thus attaining the next level of positioning in the Vanderlande organization.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Manage team of Process Engineers (through hierarchical and functional lines) to further professionalize the Process Engineering department and create a network of Process Engineers, cooperating as a team.
• Globalize and standardize the Process Engineering discipline within Vanderlande following the Vanderlande Service Proposition building blocks: actively drive to implement standard Vanderlande Ways of Working.
• Work closely with Service Development and Service Technology to develop new Products and Services.
• Implement an early involvement strategy to enforce improved project take over and operational support.
• Manage customer escalations for high impact customers on senior management level.
• Create case driven added value for both customers and Vanderlande.
• Realize integration with other relevant functional areas. 
• Initiate and manage innovative cross-departmental projects with strategic impact as well as operational and tactical responsibilities related to process transition support and operational support.
• Maintain relationships with key decision makers (both internally and at customer level).
  Identify possibilities for new ways of working, tools, etc. to assist improvement of the effectiveness of the departmental activities.
• Draw up and realize the annual plan for the development of the PE department (e.g. development of new ways of working, new tooling and competencies of department and its employees).
• Introduce new technology and innovation, instead of improvement of existing operation.
• Major contributor to service site development of processes, pricing, product development and marketing.

Manager Process Engineering Job Requirements

Job requirements
For this demanding and challenging position, we ask you to bring to the table:

• A Master’s degree (e.g. in Technology Management, Industrial Engineering or IT)
• 10+ years’ experience in international line management or 5+ years in International Consulting with proven managerial skills
• Experience in working in an internal (project/matrix) organization (used to managing remote teams)
• Excellent verbal and oral skills in English language
• Willingness to travel for at least 30% of your time
• Process oriented, analytical capabilities
  Commercial focus and highly result oriented 

• Strong stakeholder management skills are essential in this role
• Able to act as a senior business partner for senior management
• Leadership flexibility and cultural awareness
• Strong customer focus
