Internship: Porting LPD4.0 software to a Cortex A9 based boardAssignment type: Internship

Description of the assignment
The Research & Development (R&D) department of Vanderlande is responsible for the development of new products for internal material handling systems for Warehousing, Parcel and Airports.
The software for the Low Product Detection (LPD) is a system to detect and report low products that are present on the belts of a sorter and that cannot be detected with a conventional photocell. The system uses a 3d-camera for detection. The software for the LPD consists of an image processing part and a real-time part. The image processing part currently runs on a Siemens iPC and the real-time part on a Cortex M3 based board. The assignment is to investigate and perform the porting of both software parts to a Cortex A9 based board. This board is available with either Windows CE Compact or Linux as operating system and an investigation into the selection of the OS is required. For the real-time part of the software several digital input need to be read and handled in real-time. An encoder and two sensors are connected to these digital inputs.
The goal of the assignment is to realize a documented way of working to build the entire software product. You also need to demonstrate that the digital inputs can be read and handled within the required time constrictions. Finally, you need to realize a documented choice for the preferred operation system.
Your tasks / responsibilities
• Investigate the two different operating systems;
• Port the camera driver library (C++) to the new board using both operation systems;
• Port the MATLAB generated code (C) to the new board using both operation systems;
• Port the Ehternet IP communication code (C) to the new board using both operation systems;
• Port the software for the handling of the inputs of the new board using both operation systems.
Your profile
• Looking for a software developer with experience in C / C++;
• Has some knowledge of Windows CE (Compact) and Linux;
• Has knowledge of Agile development processes.
