Senior/Principal Test Engineer
Purpose of function
The Senior/Principal Test Engineer designs, develops and implements an active implantable medical device (AIMD) for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) with in and out body parts, featuring a closed loop control system.
The type of work will vary throughout the phases of the project. Initial focus is mainly feasibility, concept design, prototype building, and the related testing. Next, the focus will shift towards providing testability input to designers and start working on the design verification (DVT) and automated test equipment (ATE).
In the later phases of the project, the focus will move towards integration testing, electrical characterization testing, DVT execution and validation of test systems. In general, (s)he will interact closely with design partners and manufacturing contractors. (S)he will transfer test equipment and methods from an R&D environment to the production environment of the manufacturing contractors.
Function requirements
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in, electronics, biomedical or equivalent engineering;
• Relevant industry experience, preferably active implantable medical device;
• A generalist, with extensive experience in design processes and testing of (medical device) electronics;
• Mastering LabView to create and maintain test (ATE) software;
• Solid electronics design and system testing experience within a controlled process;
• A systems thinking attitude, can identify areas of potential improvement and develop plans to address these;
• A high energy, self-motivated, pro-active individual able to work in a diverse team within a startup company;
• While being part of system design team responsible for test-design input in design phase;
• Fluent in English, further languages would be appreciated.
Overview main tasks / responsibility areas
• Lead risk burn-down projects by setting up, prototyping and testing concept systems;
• Development and validation of test systems for electrical testing;
• Definition and validation of test cases and test plans for electrical tests for design verification;
• Characterization testing of electronics subsystems and full system;
• Working to solve problems and identify improvements in electronics subsystems and full system;
• Design and develop DVT tooling (in co-operation with partners);
• Design and develop manufacturing test tooling (ATE) (in co-operation with partners);
