Project Manager Airport Renovation Job Description

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol needs more room to accommodate the growth in the number of passengers and air transport movements. It has therefore embarked on numerous major construction projects, including a new pier and terminal, the renovation and expansion of the train and bus station, new parking garages and the expansion of the drop-off roads. These major projects are being integrally managed by a new organisation at Schiphol Group, the Capital Programme.
 
The Delivery Team is responsible for managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all construction related activities of the Capital Programme. Through monitoring of the construction activities and engagement of the PM/CM firm, the team will be focussed on schedule certainty, budget delivery, and that construction works meet the required standards whilst enforcing a strong health and safety culture on the Capital Programme. With the development and implementation of construction, testing and commissioning and ORAT plans, impacts to the operations of Schiphol Airport will be controlled and risk mitigation for construction activities optimized.  The Delivery Team has extensive construction knowledge and expertise of operational rules and regulations of Schiphol with team leads focussing on schedule delivery, interfaces, logistics, quality, health and safety, and testing, commissioning and ORAT.

Understanding of all Capital Programme aspects of logistics and ensuring that all these logistic constraints and activities are included in construction schedules. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Movement of people, goods and equipment
• Site set-up, including all welfare and equipment facilities, internal and external logistics routes
• Operational procedures, methods and standards
• Usage of key assets
• Setting up procedures and codes on all logistic aspects for all projects. 
• Supervising and monitoring the compliance of the logistic plan in all phases of the construction works.
• Advising the Project Managers on logistic aspects such as material suppliers, carriers, operating procedures and material movement as far as applicable.
• Supervising on physical surveys. This includes managing one or more logistic supervisors.
• Ensuring that the construction team is fully aware of logistics activities and work in compliance with applicable standards and procedures so as not to impact Schiphol (line) operations.
• Reporting and communicating logistic status to the Delivery Team and key Capital Programme personnel on all developments that impact schedule, cost, quality and safety.

Project Manager Airport Renovation Job Requirements

• A minimum of twenty (20) years of relevant experience on large, complex infrastructure construction projects, preferably in airports.
• Strong knowledge on logistic aspects of large construction projects.
• University Degree.
• Strong leadership and effective communication skills.
• Fluent in the English language in writing and in speech.
