Vanderlande – challenges in motion
Internship: Machine playback from logging - Application and UI developmentDescription of the assignment
The Research & Development (R&D) department of Vanderlande is responsible for the development of new products for internal material handling systems for warehousing, parcel&postal and baggage handling systems.
A lot of times, we get questions from sites abroad, service engineer and/or commisioning engineers about the behavior of the loopsorter system. Every site has a different configuration/lay-out so it's not always easy to figure out what components are at play. Some sites are very large, up to 800 meters long. The problem description isn't always clear and when it is clear we have lots of logging to process. The machines produce up to 50MB of text every minute. It takes a lot of knowledge and time to read this data and understand what the system really does. In order to ease this process, we want to visualize our output. If this is possible, our employees in the field get deeper understanding of the system and R&D will get less questions.Feasibility study and proof-of-concept to generate a rendered image from the configuration files and use the logging as input to create a 'logfile-player' that can run, pauze and zoom to show the location of parcels on the system.
