Introduction
Do you enjoy teamwork, sharing a vision and solving problems using creative thinking? If so you will enjoy ASML. You need to be a true self-starter, making contacts with different disciplines at different levels – it’s a great opportunity for professional development and personal growth.
Job Mission
The department Wafer Clamping & Particle Contamination Control is part of the EUV Business Line in ASML. Its task is to specify, develop, integrate, qualify and industrialize wafer clamps, pellicles and particle contamination solutions in the area of EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) Scanner Technology. The Pellicle group is part of this department.
The group Pellicle is responsible for optimizing the scanner performance by providing an extremely thin membrane which can be applied in an EUV scanner. The pellicle should increase the particle defectivity performance of an EUV scanner without having negative impact on other performance parameters.
The pellicle physics and optical expert should try to understand the material stacks and properties of the layers and make the translation into models which are needed to establish and predict optical and imaging performance. The actual impact on scanner imaging (e.g. CDU or proximity) is not part of the responsibility. However an understanding of these aspects is a definite pre.
Important aspects are the adequate characterization of the layers from physical and optical point of view (e.g. layer roughness, intermixing or gradients), derive from the characterization relevant (optical) parameters and use this information by building models to describe e.g. the reflection, transmission, imaging impact of pellicles. The impact of non-uniformities of these parameters must be part of the analysis. The analysis is important for new pellicles but also for pellicles during use (due to degradation mechanisms). The pellicle physics and optical expert will also be part of the development of next generations of pellicle films with special focus on physical/optical aspects.
Job Description
