Job Description
As Patent Attorney you will be part of one of the patent groups in the CIP department. Your responsibilities include: Interacting with Research and D&E groups to determine opportunities to establish patent rights and determine existence of patent risks; Independently managing a patent portfolio in one or more technical fields, including filing and prosecution of patent rights worldwide as well as reporting on and regular pruning of the patent portfolio; Determining potential risks posed by third party patent portfolios and mitigating any such risks; Co-counseling the management of the business line regarding intellectual property rights, opportunities and risks.
Context of the position

With 70 locations worldwide in 16 countries, ASML has an international presence in the semiconductor industry.Within ASML, the Corporate Intellectual Property (CIP) department is responsible for maximizing ASML's global intellectual property position to protect and support ASML's business. In particular, the CIP department strives to preserve freedom to operate for ASML and to establish and maintain a portfolio of patent rights.
At the CIP department, about 60 people work in four locations (Veldhoven in the Netherlands and Wilton, San Diego and Silicon Valley in the USA) to accomplish the above-stated mission.The patent attorneys work in one of three groups, organized along ASML's business lines: Patents DUV group, Patents EUV/CLS group, or Patents APPS/CSM group.
MSc degree in physics, mechanics, electrical engineering or similar technical field;
Qualified as Dutch/European Patent Attorney or you are in an advanced state of qualifying.
Experience
Technical experience in optics, mechatronics, metrology or similar field; Solid basic experience in handling Intellectual Property matters in industry or law firm; Strong English language skills; Dutch language skills preferred.
