EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.

EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

MTG UNIX Systems Administration Engineer Job Requirements

Along with a university degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, you shall ideally have skills/experience in each of the following areas:
 

• Proven experience in maintaining large scale computer systems in operational, high-availability and time critical environments;
• Full knowledge and experience in the following fields are mandatory:

1. Computer operating systems (UNIX, LINUX and Windows);
2. Computer fail-over mechanisms and clustering;
3. Computer system designs and architectures;
4. Computer hardware;
5. Storage area networks;
6. Management of hardware and software maintenance contracts;
7. Management of COTS software products and licenses;

• Maturity and resilience along with excellent organisational and time management capabilities.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills, combined with a proven ability to apply these to working within and across teams
