Our client is an established inkjet technology company supplying industrial inkjet printheads, who develop a range of inkjet products. Due to business growth, they are looking for a new mechanical design engineer to work as part of the print head team with responsibility for mechanical and functional design. The role covers the entire lifecycle of the product, from initial concept through design, trials and release.
 
The role 

• Complete design work using 3D CAD and FEA techniques, working with particular focus on fluidic and thermal performance.
• Designing to achieve the most cost effective manufacture.
• Understand design requirements, design mechanical elements, complete design pack for changes, ensure the design considers test, manufacture and assembly, ensure designs are validated before manufacture.

Mechanical Design Engineer- Inkjet Technology Job Requirements

• Ability to understand customer and technical requirements and work out impact on the whole design.
• 2.1 or 1^st class Mechanical Engineering degree
• 5 years experience of products of similar complexity .e.g. precision electro-mechanical, high reliability and industrial environments.
• Understanding of fundamental manufacturing principles
• 3D CAD modelling essential- Solidworks would be an advantage
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Solid understanding of capability studies for designs, jigs and fixtures.
