Student Internship on Blockchain / FinTech in EEMEA Job Description

The Pharma EEMEA region represents the Roche Pharma operations in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. In addition to the employees in its 88 countries, the Pharma Region EEMEA comprises headquarter functions supported by approximately 70 employees in Basel. Despite the challenges of inherent volatility and external barriers across the region, EEMEA economies are growing and Roche is committed to playing a role in this region to address high unmet medical needs.
With the emerging Blockchain technology we want to develop a basic understanding of the technology and identify available applications as well as trends and developments with the overall aim to make our processes with internal and external stakeholders more efficient. This does refer to pharma industry specific as well as EEMEA specific Finance and Business Processes.
In order to achieve this, we are offering an intern position for a master student or a PhD student that revolves around this topic and supports us in building that knowledge.
In this position you will:

  • Describe the background of the technology and current development and trends
  • Investigate available tools and technologies based on Blockchain and Smart contracts
  • Assess potential applications of Blockchain technology in Finance and Business processes relevant for us based on acquired proces understanding and identified needs
  • Identify the areas in need of development in order to get our organization ready for applying the new technology in identified areas
  • Outcome can be an Industry/Roche specific White-paper on Blockchain/FinTech Technology

Student Internship on Blockchain / FinTech in EEMEA Job Requirements

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.
 
You are a Master student or PhD student with strong interest in the future of FinTech and Blockchain Technology and a quick comprehension of business processes. Moreover you are/have:

  • Solid background in IT and Blockchain/FinTech Technology
  • Interested in finding advanced technologies applicable for a world leading pharmaceutical company
  • Self-starter attitude and are comfortable in working independently
  • Strategic and conceptual mind set and a pro-active knowledge sharer with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Fluent in English and able to travel
 
This internship can start in January or February 2017 or by agreement. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date and duration of internship (4 to 6 months) in your cover letter.

Due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents.
