What can you expect in the Control Applications Engineer position?
Responsibilities:
- Control system architecture definition & design
- Control hardware & software requirements definition
- Create model based designs of control features, define interfaces, and implement software solutions for embedded automotive targets
- Application and integration of Engine Management Systems both at and engine and vehicle level
- Calibration activities, including DOE (Design of Experiments), analysis of data, optimisation and calibration management
- Manage release of software and calibrations to internal and external customers
- Define the control system components and architecture that will be used in future projects
- Root cause analysis, validation and implementation of solutions
- Create and execute test plans derived from requirements for both hardware and software
- Travel to international customer facilities to provide application support
Control Applications Engineer Job Requirements
What background will make you successful?
Required:
- Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering Degree
- At least 3 years of automotive industry control system development and application/calibration
- Proficient in developing models using Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow for deployment on embedded devices
- Good understanding of engine operation and combustion principles
- Familiarity with industry standard calibration tools (ETAS INCA, ATI Vision etc.)
- Solid understanding of automotive controls hardware (sensors, harnesses actuators, and electronic control units)
- Experience in proactively defining controls hardware and software requirements at all stages of a product’s lifecycle
- Experience providing efficient and immediate support to aid in resolution of issues present on vehicles or similar products
- The ability to provide accurate effort estimates on tasks to help time manage projects and understand resource concerns
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a team player
- Be comfortable with international travel
Preferred:
- Comprehension of OBD and its application
- Experience working to software quality systems such as SPICE and ISO26262
- Experience with task management and change management tools such as JIRA and SVN
- Proven electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities
