Description Research Mechatronics Sr Machine Architect
Our research department is responsible for the generation of long term value by identifying breakthroughs that fit the roadmap of semiconductor lithography and the lithography related markets. We deliver proof of concepts that can be implemented in future products after which these technologies are transferred to the Development and Engineering department of ASML. Our research department is divided into 4 domains, related to (1) mechatronics and control technologies, (2) sensors, metrology and modelling, (3) general physics and chemistry, (4) flow and material processing
Job Mission

The candidate is responsible for the architecture of several mechatronic prototypes that are developed within research to demonstrate technologies for future products of ASML. Within this role the candidate is responsible for:
& Defining specifications for the complete prototype and derive thereof specifications for separate sub-modules
& Driving the design team, which also comprises external suppliers, to realize the envisaged prototype
& Communicating and defending the selected concepts to higher management within several ASML departments
Job Description
On a long term:
& Lead and drive mechatronic prototype development in Research
& Detail specifications and budget break-downs
& Apply multidiscipline knowledge for envisioned prototypes
& Come up with means and methods to define the tests to verify the specifications
& Lead the design team, often consisting of (several) external suppliers
& Convince management of choices made
& Place own work on the long term roadmap of ASML research and development
On a short term:
& Drive several prototypes that are being developed to a success
Requirements
MSc or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanics or any other related engineering background. Our preference goes out to a PhD candidate. Knowledge of machine design principles is a must.
Experience
As from 5 yrs work experience at high-tech mechatronic system design or machine building
Experience in working together with high-tech suppliers and research centers is a plus.

& Candidate should be able to work independently in a dynamic explorative environment
& Robust personality is a must
& Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic attitude
& Critical attitude, both towards technological results and efficiency of the development process
& Ability to represent ASML when discussing with external parties
& Good communicational skills and good knowledge of English
& Knowledge of modeling tools such as Matlab and FEM solvers
Context of the position
The holder of the position reports to the group leader Mechatronics & Control and is operational within multidisciplinary research projects.
The Mechatronics & Control Research group develops new mechatronic design concepts and advanced control techniques that contribute to fulfilling the long term roadmap of ASML
