ASML - Safety Architect Job Description
As a Safety Architect you role is to be the sparring partner of Sr. architects (subsystem and functions) early in the design process with regard to safety. The Safety Architect has the responsibility to ensure the incorporation of machine safety policies and legislation in the design concepts to make sure that during the validation non conformities regarding human safety are absent. Furthermore the Safety Architect is seen throughout the ASML organization as the principle authority on a specific risk area, responsible for the policies and 2nd line support. - Participant in FBR/ADR/PDR with machine safety competence
- Sparring partner of Sr. architects in the functional breakdown and subsystem specification and breakdown phases
- Contributing to safety performance at system integration department.
- CE signing of tooling and ASML (sub) systems.
- Authority on a specific hazard area, keeping knowledge up to date
- Responsible for the SAF policy document for specific hazard area: translation of SPS safety document & international standards in specific ASML safety policies
- Second line support for competence organization, consultancy role towards competence leads
- Closely follow the evolving machine safety legislation and assess its impact on ASML
- Networking with peers in- and outside ASML (other industries) on safety and implementation issues
- Communicate relevant safety information to all levels in the organization
- Analyze safety related issues, come to containment actions and/or solutions within legal frame work
Context of the position The Safety Architect reports hierarchically to the group leader of D&E safety and functionally to the Competence Lead of Global Product safety. The Safety Architect has no managerial role.
ASML - Safety Architect Job Requirements
Academic level or Bachelor in Mechanics or higher, HVK education preferred.Proven knowledge of:
- Mechanical design (incl safety)
- Machine safety directives
- CE process for machine safety
- ISO 12100
- Risk assessment techniques
Preferable knowledge of:
- Inspection & auditing techniques
- Risk assessment techniques
Experience- 5-10 years or more experience as product safety engineer in a high-tech environment
- (European directives (Machine directive, PED, pressure vessels, etc), OSHA, UL, NFPA,..)
- Shown theoretical and practical knowledge on and mechanical safety
Personal skills- Teamplayer with excellent social, coordination and influencing skills
- Leadership,is able to interface, motivate and convince without using formal authority
- Accurate, systematic, and analytical in approach
- Fluent English
- Professional communicator to explain / present technical matters for people with different skills and background and stakeholders
- Capability to become recognized as the machine safety authority within ASML
- Result oriented and driven; get aspects of safety adequately done without posing unnecessary delays and checks the balance regarding development progress.
