Responsibilities/Duties
• Maintenance of the EUMETSAT Copernicus/Sentinel-3 Mission Control Applications and MME-Mon tools instantiation for Sentinel-3
• Requirements specification, design, development implementation, integration and verification of extensions – including future obsolesces re-engineering - of Sentinel-3 mission control applications and tools and MME
• Support to users in investigation and/or handling in the operational usage of the Sentinel-3 mission control applications and tools and MME
• Provide MCAT with strong software technologies expertise in the area of web applications
Qualifications/Experience
A university degree in either Aerospace, or IT/Software disciplines (electronics, physics, computing, process control, ground station operations), would be an advantage.
Essential Skills
• Fluency in English
• Experience in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes;
• Experience in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 24/7 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment;
• Experience in IV&V (integration, verification and validation) activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, non-regression, testing, generation of test data, generation of
test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and
anomaly tracking.
• Experience in designing and implementing back-end software applications using Servlet
containers (e.g. Tomcat, JBoss) and Java programming languages for UNIX/Linux
operating systems;
• Experience in designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies (javascript, CSS, HTML) and javascript frameworks;
• Experience in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented
Middleware and using ActiveMQ and/or ZeroMQ as message brokers;
• Experience in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to
relational database management systems (RDBMS) and experience with data model
design for RDBMS.
Desirable Skills
• Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at off-site premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance.
• Experience in using Unified Modelling Language (UML) for software design.
• XML processing: schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation (XSLT) and XPath.
• Experience using tools for the automation of software testing.
