Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Support Engineer Job Description
Functions
As a PLM Application Support Engineer in the Engineering Data Management Section you will:
- Analyse requirements coming from various user groups at CERN and outside CERN in the scope of Product Lifecycle Management and Engineering Document Management, provide a tailored consultancy service, and implement solutions within the existing technical environment
- Provide collective and individual training in the area of PLM and engineering processes best practices.
- Contribute to the improvement of training and support material, by writing documentation such as FAQ and guidelines.
- Provide daily user support.
- Evaluate trends in the PLM and PDM (Product Data Management) domains, analyse products available on the market and asses their viability and fitness for purpose in the CERN environment.
- Actively participate in testing of software components (purchased or delivered internally by the EDMS development team).
- Coach newcomers in the area of PLM/PDM and the engineering support tools used at CERN.
- Work in collaboration with other teams within or outside the group, such as developers.
Qualification required Bachelor in the field of Mechanical or Software Engineer, or equivalent.
*Please note that preference will be given to candidates with the above-mentioned qualifications: In principle consideration will not be given to applications from people with higher qualifications.
The experience required for this post is:- Demonstrated experience in providing user support on PLM / PDM systems
- Demonstrated experience in configuration, customization and administration of PLM / PDM systems and their integration with other enterprise systems.
- Demonstrated experience in providing training for information systems in a technical environment.
- Practical knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL) is an asset.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Support Engineer Job Requirements
Bachelor in the field of Mechanical or Software Engineer, or equivalent.
The technical competencies required for this post are:
- Definition of manufacturing method, process, preparation, planning, drawing, and control.
- Application support: user support, request and incident resolution.
- Solution architecture: design of technical solutions in the plm domain supporting engineering processes at CERN.
- User Relationship Management: consultancy and training, assistance to the groups to ensure that they gain maximum benefit from the services supplied.
- Programming/Software development: working knowledge of SQL and/or scripting languages is an asset.
The language competencies required are:- English or French: spoken and written with the ability to draw up technical texts. The ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts would be an advantage.
