Role: Principal Micropalaeontologist
Location: Aberdeen, UK
Synopsis of Role
Experienced Micropalaeontologist providing stratigraphic consultancy services to Oil & Gas companies drilling in/around UK, Ireland, Norway and Denmark.
Main Responsibilities
Your primary role will be the accurate identification of microfossils from drilled rock samples, the interpretation of the data recovered, the integration of these data with other biostratigraphic disciplines and other geological data. Reporting of results to clients will be in standard written format, and presentation of results to clients may be required. Project management will be an integral part of the role. Some periods of work at wellsite may be required. This Senior role will also require leadership skills and the mentoring of junior staff within a small team of Stratigraphers which includes staff and Consultant Palynologists, Micropalaeontologists and Nannopalaeontologists. Sales and marketing activities will also be required to establish relationships with our existing clientbase and to develop new clients. Opportunities may arise to work abroad at wellsite, or for longer periods of time within client organisations.

The candidate should possess:
• A BSc in Geology/Earth Sciences with a post-graduate degree in Micropalaeontology;
• Excellent communication skills, with fluent spoken and written English;
• Good IT skills; knowledge of StrataBugs and ODM would be advantageous;
• The experience and ability to undertake stratigraphic research on different aged sections in different geographic regions;
• The ability to work under pressure and to work to tight deadlines;
• Previous industrial/consultancy experience is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years experience is required for the role. Vacancies also exist at junior levels, and applicants with less experience will be considered for these;
• A willingness to undertake wellsite work is advantageous.
