Java/Eclipse Software Engineer for Simulations Division Job Description

Join our team of Java developers to drive the enhancements and improvements of our Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) based user interfaces that are at the heart of various projects we are executing for the European Space Agency (ESA)

We are looking for a degree educated software engineer (computer science, math, engineering or aerospace) with strong experience in Java/Eclipse to lead the development of Eclipse/RCP/RAP based applications, in particular user interfaces, within our Simulations & Astrodynamics Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:

  • As a team member contributing to the design, development, documentation, validation and maintenance of Eclipse/RCP/RAP based applications.
  • Drive the enhancements and improvements of our Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) based user interfaces
  • Ensure that our applications remain state-of-the-art by using the latest features and frameworks available on top of Eclipse, such as EMF, EMF-VF, GEF, CDO or GEMS
  • Contribute to new developments in the area of Model Driven Architecture, making use of UML, MOF, XMI and related technologies.

Java/Eclipse Software Engineer for Simulations Division Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A university degree in a technical domain (e.g. computer science, math, engineering)
  • Strong software development experience in Java using Eclipse frameworks
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Java programming language
  • Eclipse RCP, SWT
  • XML technologies (XSD, XSLT)
  • Source Code Control System (SVN or Git)
  • Linux command line (shell scripts, make)
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
  • Eclipse EMF, GEF, RAP, Papyrus, Sirius
  • Automated GUI testing, preferably SwtBot
  • Tycho, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Gerrit
  • Modelling with UML, OCL and SysML
  • C++ programming language
  • ECSS standards for space software development and management
You must be eligible to live and work in the EU. The acquisition of a security clearance may be required for this position.
