Mobile backend engineer Job Description

CycleWE is a unique and fast-growing platform that connects cyclists from all over the world by stimulating the social nature of the sport through mobile and online applications. And we’re looking for someone to help us with creating the best possible backend landscape!
 
Are you a mobile backend engineer who’s keen on writing an excellent code and who has experience with working within an agile development process? Then this might be something for you!
 
Position:
Comfortable with self-direction, team collaboration and open communication, this full-time position will be responsible for building and optimizing the CycleWE app and website. We’re currently migrating the app from hybrid to native, so you’ll be working on creating a solid base from scratch, which is matched to the worldwide growth perspective. Thereafter, you’ll be working in an iterative process with fast release cycles, as well as looking ahead and conceptualizing broader changes in our online and mobile backend structures. You should be able to:

• Manage a collaborative working environment with a growing Scrum team. You’ll get a lot of space to share your thoughts and to come up with new ideas to improve and optimize our product.
• Lead projects autonomously and in tandem with our lead developer and founding team.
• Focus on developing scalable APIs, database, and backend infrastructure.
• Secure an optimal performance and quality of the product - you hate it when an app feels slow, buggy and/or unstable.
• Build your own great CMS.

Mobile backend engineer Job Requirements

Do you have what it takes?

• Experience: You have at least 2 years of experience with mobile backend development. Relevant experience as a mobile backend engineer is important as well.
• Knowledge: You have knowledge of designing backend architecture and developing new RESTful JSON APIs, SQL and NoSQL databases, and data processing infrastructure.
• Skills: Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, testing, and debugging skills.
• Trends: You are familiar with cutting edge technologies in the field and you are up-to-date with the latest trends and emerging new backend technologies. Moreover, you’re confident and excited about learning new technologies.
• Language capabilities: Good mastery of the Dutch and/or English language.
• Data: You like to measure your success with data and learn from user feedback.

• Knowledge of and/or love for the cycling, fitness and/or sports industry.
• Relevant experience with (backend) web development is preferable.
