The European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility GmbH (European XFEL GmbH) is a multi-national non-profit
company. It will make available X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences,
materials research and other disciplines. Located in the Hamburg area, Germany, it will comprise scientific
instruments for a wide range of experimental techniques. Construction of the European XFEL is underway, user
operation starts in 2017.
Control and Analysis Software Group Leader (f/m) Job Description
Additionally, the group manages all related user support enabling the integration of hardware equipment as well as data analysis routines.
The successful candidate will
- be responsible for managerial, strategic and organizational group matters,
- lead and develop its group members,
- organize the provision of the software in the areas of beamline control, and data analysis for the users of the European XFEL facility,
- coordinate the developments and maintenance of the European XFEL designed Karabo framework, which facilitates both the beamline control as well as the data analysis,
- place special emphasis on the organization of the support team to aid the users (both in-house and external) in the application of the software framework,
- interact with an international user community.
Duration: This appointment is permanent.
Salary and benefits are similar to those of public service organizations in Germany. In addition European XFEL
provides a non-contributory company pension scheme, as well as broad relocation benefits. The European XFEL
GmbH intends to achieve a widely international staff. Non-German candidates hired from abroad receive an
international allowance.

Requirements

- experience in software developments for hardware controls
