A highly responsible manufacturing role for an experienced and determined change driver
AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals (SC) Business Area operates a number of advanced production sites worldwide. Among them is our Industrial Chemicals site at Delfzijl, the Netherlands, which operates a fully integrated supply chain along with production facilities for Salt, Chlorine, Mono Chloric Acetic Acid, and a cogeneration unit for the production of electricity, steam and other utilities.
The Delfzijl site is currently transitioning from stand-alone plants towards a truly integrated concept. Within this process, the Salt and Energy production units will combine to form a single and highly efficient production cluster. Your mission in this role is to drive and oversee the successful formation and operation of the new Salt/Energy cluster.

Production Manager Cluster Salt/Energy

The role and its responsibilities
This is a key role in which you are responsible for production within the agreed production budgets with regard to agreed labor costs and department budget. Using raw and auxiliary materials according to the agreed recipe you produce according to agreed plans, procedures and quality requirements, within the specified operating window. You also assure the agreed quantity and level of workforce per shift and initiate and drive problem solving in case of deviations.
As an outstanding Safety leader you ensure an open constructive (safety) dialogue with the shop floor and strict compliance and adherence to AkzoNobel’s Life Saving rules and Golden Principle. You act according to the site Emergency Response plan in case of emergencies, initiate root cause analyses for incidents and take appropriate actions, maintain all standard and emergency operating procedures, and initiate and contribute to risk assessments.
Further, you drive continuous improvement by utilizing ALPS tools and standardized methodologies for problem solving and improvement projects (e.g. L6S RCPS). You also implement, maintain and stimulate visual performance management e.g. using Gemba Walks, and use and review KPIs for performance management.
Acting as a manager who ‘walks the talk’ and embodies the company values, you develop an effective organization with highly engaged employees. Thus you maintain the agreed meeting structure e.g. shift leader meeting. You also develop your team by coaching and developing annual training plans and personal targets based on Performance Dialogs.
