Manager Product & System Design (m/f) Job Description

Purpose
The Manager Product and System Design manages generic programs for the development and validation of catalyst technologies and system layouts designed to clean the exhaust of commercial vehicles. He/she creates a broad knowledge and a deep understanding of new products and their integration into an exhaust system. Based on this knowledge, he/she provides full technical support to the internal organization as well as to customers to promote the use of Umicore products.
Together with the team he/she consolidates customer expectations and is responsible for integrating such defined targets in the design of exhaust systems and to transfer them into development needs for the R&D department.
Main Responsibilities

• Managing generic product and system development programs in close cooperation with Engine Bench Test Center, Customer Support Team and R&D department
• Assisting the Customer Support Team in technical discussions at our customers'
• Effective global internal communication about test results, customer and competitor information
• Providing technical support for sample recommendations
• Balancing priorities of experimental projects
• Active participation (incl. presentations) in industry & government meetings
• Generating innovative solutions as a basis for patent applications and long term technical competitiveness

Manager Product & System Design (m/f) Job Requirements

• University degree in Chemistry or Engineering (MSc, PhD, Master of Engineering)
• Good English and German language skills
• Basic project management skills
• Experience with engine bench testing and/or catalysts is preferred
• Well-developed analytical thinking
• Thoroughness & persistence in pursuing technical issues
• High level of creativity and open attitude
• High social & intercultural competence
• Good communication & presenting abilities
