Lab Manager / Senior Test Engineer
Our client is looking for a Lab Manager/Test Engineering Team Leader to join the Solutions Delivery Systems team. In this role the candidate will work closely with Engineering teams to ensure that engineered products are capable of delivering cleaning formulations safely and to specification. You are responsible for maintaining and reporting on all equipment and packaging testing carried out at the site. You will work closely with the project engineers and lead and coach a team of lab technicians to develop the test programs and report the results.
Main responsibilities
- Oversee and manage test programmes to support business activities ranging from portfolio enhancement, range maintenance, quality complaints, and NP innovations
- Develop test protocols, design and commission automated equipment
- Assist engineering and test teams with data analysis and interpretation
- Maintain test databases and standards to ensure traceability and to comply with ISO9001
- Design and build test rigs for development and long term verification of systems
- Organise and schedule program of testing taking place in the labs
- Write, review, and approve test reports
- Maintain the testing facilities through continual maintenance program
- Participate on design and development idea generation as needed
- Design and build through the use of rapid prototyping and traditional workshop skills, test fixtures and jigs required by the development teams and the project leaders
- Responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of the lab area
- Ensure that the lab facilities have the appropriate prototyping tools and/or maintain external contacts for this purpose
- Collaborate with test laboratories located in North America, Latin America, and India
- Lead and coach a team of lab technicians
Lab Manager / Senior Test Engineer Job Requirements
- BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical, Electrical or similar Engineering
- Min 3–5 years working in a test engineering environment or laboratory type work
- Experienced in Data analysis and basic statistics and conducting risk assessments
- Ability to develop test protocols
- Good attention to detail and knowledge of English language (written and oral)
- Proven team leader able to work with people from different cultures / backgrounds
- Ability to work hydraulics, pneumatics and appropriate control systems
- Automated test rig design, experience in microcontrollers, basic automation circuitry
- Programming, preferably C/C++/C#
- Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
- Hands on workshop experience and be able to operate workshop machinery
Preferred:- Experience in working with chemicals
- Understanding of chemical-material interactions
- Understanding of ISO9001 compliance
- Practitioner of Design of Experiments methodology
- Proficient in the use of Solid works 3D modelling
