Senior Engineer Process Safety Job Description

DEPARTMENT
SABIC Polyolefine in Gelsenkirchen lies on the Northern edge of the Ruhr Area, directly bordering the Munsterland. The region offers high free-time and recreational value with exceptional culture and sporting opportunities, as well as excellent shopping possibilities. At the Gelsenkirchen production site, approx.1 Million tons of Polyethylene and Polypropylene are produced by about 400 employees per year. Since 2000 the site has become one of the most modern in Europe through the start-up of new production plants and a logistics complex. This has been further highlighted with the start-up of a Polyethylene Plant in 2009. 

We are looking for a Sr. Engineer Process Safety in order of succesion.

Focus will be to keep the high EHSS & Q standard within the Process Safety .

JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advice and support of Process Safety for the plants, fire- and explosion prevention
• Ensure adherence of legal and regulatory requirements
• Responsibility and actualization of management of Safety and in the event of incidents
• Planning and execution of emergency drills
• Support of regulatory authorization processes

Senior Engineer Process Safety Job Requirements

• Technical Engineer or other equivalent qualification with 5+ years of experience in the chemical industry
• At least 3 years of relevant experience; experience in EHS audits is a plus
• Being a so called „Störfallbeauftragter“, “Brandschutzbeauftragter” and “besonders befähigte Person des Explosionsschutzes” is a plus
• High standards for operational safety, integrity and reliability 
• Good knowledge of the German legislation regarding EHSS is a must.
• Knowledge in the application of RCA
• Affinity and strong commitment concerning EHSS & Q topics
• Leadership skills, strong analytical and communication skills
• Fluent in German and English - spoken and written is a must.
