Project Manager Job Description
Project Manager required to support the Client’s European growth initiatives by providing technical support for Engineering, Program Management and Sales by developing an in depth understanding of the entire company product portfolio. A key function will also be support for root cause analysis and structured problem solving for our manufacturing facility located in Ireland. Design and concept development work will also be a focus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Project Manager:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report all accidents and injuries
- Work assigned schedule and meet attendance requirements
- Attend training to maintain and update skills
- Communicate and work effectively with all functions and departments (including suppliers and customers) to clarify and/or resolve product and/or process issues throughout product development, launch, and production phases
- Support the Sales Department in pursuing new business opportunities and in the presentation of technical information
- Be able to develop and manage to a timeline for projects requiring local support
- Support customer program management interface
- Communicate engineering changes with all necessary functions throughout the entire organization
- Broad range of process knowledge related to stamping, welding, and mechanical assembly
- Support launches at customer plants
- Understand and support the Client’s Launch Process where local input and follow-up is required
- Create design concepts and refine concepts based on supplier SSOW and benchmark data using CAD tools
- Ability to interpret and present technical data such as system and component level FEA and Variation Analysis reports
- Maintain project records (Customer and Client Designs)
- Review product design and functionality and report findings to corporate Engineering and Program Management team
- Strong problem solving skills and discipline in determining root cause of potential design and manufacturing problems
- Provide customer engineering interface and work creatively with customers to determine and meet their product needs
- Understand and communicate to our customers design verification plan and reports (DVP&R)
- Assist with the negotiation of tolerance and GD&T changes with the customer necessary for manufacturability and product function
- Facilitate and support local prototype and pre-launch builds
- Provide technical engineering support for RFQ’s
Additional Duties and Responsibilities of Project Manager:- Additional duties as assigned by manager
- International travel required
Project Manager Job Requirements
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements of Project Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field
- Five years project management experience in automotive industry
- 3D CAD skills (order of preference…ProE, CATIA, UG)
- Knowledge and understanding of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Understanding of product development cycles, engineering best practices and principles
- Broad range of process experience
- Knowledge of customer product development life cycles
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Some financial analysis skill and marketing skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite products
Work Environment / Physical requirements of the role of Project Manager:- Sit or stand and be mobile as required
- Use of personal protective equipment as required
