About Flanders Make
Towards a digitally transformed, sustainable and competitive industry
Flanders Make is a fast-growing research centre that performs research to support companies from various sectors in their sustainable innovation processes. From our establishments in Lommel, Leuven, Kortrijk and Sint-Truiden and labs within the 5 Flemish universities, we stimulate open innovation through excellent research.
Because of our unique position as a bridge between industry and research, our teams combine application and system proficiency with technological and scientific knowledge. Academic partners and more than 150 companies are part of the innovative circular ecosystem of Flanders Make.
Our strategy based on industrial needs and long-term trends ensures a close link with the industry and its challenges. With our programmed research, we create impact in companies.
Sustainability, climate and workability have a high priority in our research. We want to help companies in developing sustainable, green, smart and connected products and production systems, with a special focus on people and their interaction with machines.
Offer
Flanders Make gives you the opportunity to develop pre-competitive research within a unique domain in Flanders, together with Flemish top players and on an international level.
Flanders Make offers you a competitive salary with fringe benefits.
Flanders Make
The assignment is in Belgium at Flanders Make, site Leuven.
Function
Your tasks in the research area around model-based mechatronic system engineering are:
- creating simulation models of complex mechatronic systems (e.g. hybrid drivelines) with new technologies;
- to describe and link the requirements, functions, working principles and concrete components of mechatronic systems in formal design models;
- to use the developed models to create optimal mechatronic systems for the high tech companies;
- to present the results of the research to the companies and on seminars and conferences.
You will work in a team and report to the site manager.
Researcher & System Architect with a broad interest in mechatronic systems:
- PhD or Master's degree in Engineering with a first experience in research (IT, System, Mechanical, Electrical, Control,….);
- Strong in conceptual reasoning and you can derive generic concepts based on concrete industrial design problems;
- Broad interest and knowledge of the involved disciplines in mechatronic engineering (Requirements, System, Mechanical, Electrical, Control, Software, Safety, Testing, PLE) and you know what it takes to create a production-ready mechatronic design. This allows you to communicate fluently with engineers from different backgrounds.
- Knowledge of modeling languages/tools that are used to coordinate multi-disciplinary mechatronic design processes (UML/SysML, Architecture Description Languages, PLM tools, requirement management tools);
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink and software for multi physical modeling (f.i. Matlab/SimScape or LMS Imagine.Lab Amesim).
You are
- Passionate by research and new technologies with focus on applications for machines or mechatronic systems of the companies;
