Responsibilities:
Designing, implementing and maintaining highly advanced software tooling which will be used to process digital geographic data of world leading data providers. The processed geographic data will be used in worldwide navigation products of market leading customers like VW, BMW and Daimler.
Reports To:
Project leader (hierarchically) and SW architect (technically).Work DescriptionWithin the maintenance team you will be responsible for your own products, under supervision of the SW architect and project leader. Besides developing, documenting and testing your own code, reviewing the work of colleagues and problem solving also belong to your responsibilities.
Core Tasks:
• Developing and maintaining conversion tooling.
• Performing peer code reviews.
• Performing developer tests on your own code.
• Creating and updating SW documentation (e.g. wiki).
Competencies:
• A MSc or BSc degree, preferably in computer science.
• At least 5 years relevant working experience in software development (design and implementation).
• Able to grasp structure of complex software tooling and understands impact of changes on existing code
• Experienced in C++ (must)
• Knowledge of Linux (as development environment)
• Knowledge of SQL (strong preference)
• Experience in creating complex SQL queries is preferred.
• Interest/experience in algorithms
• Experience in writing software that is optimized to run in environments with:
• limited memory (optimize for memory usage)
• Limited CPU cycles (optimize for speed)
Personal skills:
You are an independent, creative and pragmatic minded engineer (a “doer”) with a customer focus and strong communicative skills to interact and align on work status with your colleagues. You have perfect command of written and spoken English.
