Job description
As a System Architect you will be responsible to combine the knowledge of experts from different domains into a single result, typically an embedded real-time automotive system. To define such an architecture, you need to have an overview of the parts of the result that will be delivered by the different experts. It is essential to understand their requirements and setup an architecture that enables integration of the functionalities to get to a successful result. Automotive real-time embedded systems typically rely on sensor data and actuate a vehicle. It is therefore essential to regard automotive safety standards. Additionally, testability for the whole system and its parts is essential, to speed up integration of different parts and amongst others to guarantee the safety of the result.
You will work amongst others on the development, implementation and validation of system architectures in applied research projects for automotive OEMs and TIERs, service providers, research and governmental organizations all around the world. These projects may focus at exploring innovative solutions for a single vehicle up to systems that will be deployed for large field operational test. With your project team you will make impact with innovative solutions.
The activities of the System Architect will, amongst others, consist of:
• Gathering requirements (from customers and experts);
• Setup the design and architecture;
• Supporting and coordinating experts to realize results given the architecture and design;
• Supporting in defining tests and integration of components;
• Assuring that developed components and tests may be suitable for reuse in future projects.
Requirements
• Technical University (MSc), in Electrical / Software Engineering or comparable 5 to 8 years of experience as a system architect / integrator in the automotive (related) industry (R&D or product development), in the field of system design/specification, (embedded) system engineering;
• Experienced in (embedded) system/software architecture, object oriented design (C++, Java, Simulink) for different platforms ( a.o. Linux, dSPACE);
• Experience with real-time and automotive embedded systems;
• Knowledge of automotive safety standards (ISO 26262, ASIL);
• Result driven, with a focus on design, integration and testability;
• Familiar with automotive related control systems;
• Capable to act as a project leader, keeping overview while coordinating experts from different (surrounding) domains;
• Well organized, with a structured approach to activities, within given constraints;
• Convincing communication skills, good understanding of related fields;
• Thorough knowledge of the English language, German is an advantage;
• Willing to travel internationally occasionally.
