Senior Applications Developer Job Description

HERE Everyday Mobility in Berlin is recruiting a Senior Mobile Developer with in-depth knowledge in Java and Android. This is an experienced position that requires fluency in the latest Java capabilities and Android SDK. As an Android developer you will be a key member of our growing mobile engineering team, developing industry-leading mobile applications and SDKs. The ideal candidate is a quick learner who is not afraid of digging deep into new technical challenges, loves to work with Kanban in small teams, and has experience shipping one or more Android apps that are currently available on Google Play Store. Backend experience in node.js and JSON REST API design is a plus. 

• You will design and build advanced location-based services applications for the Android platform
• Your will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• You will create intuitive, custom UI controls and interfaces that match our great user experience
• You will work with internal data sources and API's
• You will unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
• You will create and maintain technical documentation for new features and applications
• You will work on bug fixing and improving application performance
• You will continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Senior Applications Developer Job Requirements

• BS / MS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related subject or comparable degree or work experience.
• 4+ years of overall development experience with a demonstrated progression of increasing responsibility
• At least 2+ years of Android development
• Have published at least one original Android app (please link us to your Android apps in the Google Play Store)
• Expert knowledge of Android SDKs and tools
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
• Hands-on experience with developing automated tests using Java frameworks, Robolectric and Robotium
• Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration and tools like Maven, Ant, Git, Ivy, Gerrit, and Eclipse
• Hands-on experience with Agile development, for instance with Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP)
• Passion to learn and to work with new technologies
• Fluent English, both in spoken and written form (cooperation at the international level)
