Airworks is a global pioneer and thought leader in the art of designing, producing and erecting inflatable objects. At the heart of this expertise is our ability to make inflatables that look ‘real’. That’s why we are a rapidly growing company that is frequently commissioned to create giant inflatables for events such as the Olympics, rock and dance festivals, and concerts by bands such as the Rolling Stones.

To join our team in the Netherlands we currently seek a technically skilled and highly professional 

3D digital designer and modeler

This is a unique opportunity to convert your own digital designs into pieces of dramatic visual theater that are seen and enjoyed by millions of people. This requires you to combine a powerful imagination with a strong grasp of real-world geometrical and structural possibilities and risks. Ideally you have some experience of the event industry and spectaculars, along with a practical understanding of their possibilities and limitations.

Airworks is currently located in Weesp, near Amsterdam, but we plan to relocate to Amsterdam in the near future.

3D digital designer and modeler Job Requirements

Technical background and requirements
You have probably studied a technical subject such as industrial design, industrial engineering, engineering or, perhaps, architecture. As such, you possess serious 3D design skills. You can also, ideally, perform organic modeling and texturing. 

You are an Adobe Photoshop expert and familiar with some or all of the following programs:
• Cinema4d or similar
• Coreldraw

You will work with the following equipment: 
• PC
• Plotter (large cutting table)
• Printer (large format)

3D thinking:
You have the ability to work out a 3D object in your head and visualize its rigging, its environment and its relationship to other 3D items. This requires a good grasp of geometry and mathematics.

2D draughtsmanship:
You can draw different objects expertly. You have a good understanding of color and how painterly illusions work.

Pattern making:
Ideally you have some previous experience in sewing or pattern making. If not, you are able to rapidly learn these skills. 

Beyond these artistic and technical attributes you are a flexible team player and a quick learner, adept at picking up new skills. You can also excite others about your ideas, communicate them effectively, and enhance existing ideas. 

You will sometimes be expected to visit and/or participate in on-site installation. A good command of the English language is essential.
