• Knowledge of mechanical reliability is applied by the candidate using state of the art (numerical) tools to build models that describe the behavior.
He/she preferably is also involved in definition and execution of experiments to both verify numerical models and to qualify actual behavior. Application based solutions are derived from models and experiments and transferred to product and system designers.
Background:
• Mechanical engineering, preferred area: materials technology / mechanics of materials.
• Preferably PhD in the relevant areas with significant numerical modeling work, but Master degree is not a show-stopper.
Technical skills/interests:
• Mechanical reliability (analyses and prediction of stresses due to thermal loads, deformations, interface delamination, and on longer term crack propagation).
• Experience and affinity with FEM modeling and be able to master quickly the relevant software tools: Marc/Mentat, Abaqus, Ansys.
