Scatterometry Research Scientist (PhD)
Job Description
You will contribute to research on a radically new metrology tool. The present metrology tool uses visible light scatterometry data to reconstruct critical dimension (CD) and overlay of lithographic structures that are too small to be imaged directly at conventional wavelengths. As the ratio of CD to conventional wavelength continues to decrease, the need increases for other metrology principles or technologies that can keep up with the CD and overlay requirements of the next decade. Possibly, Deep-UV sources and near-field optics are needed in such a new tool, requiring an entirely new system architecture. Your challenge will be to define requirements for the tool and propose, evaluate and select technologies that can achieve these requirements. Together with application specialists you will identify opportunities for our customers with the new tool. Moreover, you will build a network of industrial and potentially academic partners that can contribute to further R&D and build-up of hardware. Generation of ideas for a variety of physical metrology principles and the required technologies, contribute to a feasibility study, contribute to a first-of-a-kind system architecture study, identify opportunities for customers and define requirements for a new metrology tool.
