Lead Naval Engineer Job Description

Our Dutch based customer is a well-known international shipbuilder and offshore specialist with a long history in the engineering, repairing and building of ships and related products to the Marine and Offshore branch. For the continuous growth of our client we are now searching for a Lead Naval Engineer.  

As a Lead Naval Engineer you will make a significant contribution to the development of construction plans and executing. The challenge for the department is to develop optimal products and optimal production methods, for now and in the future.
 

Responsibilities

• Working independently and together with other construction engineers;
• Collecting and analyzing the available information for the production of construction plans, and consults with the manager and other construction engineers about the design principles and/or starting points;
• Working on the development of complicated construction engineering plans and will be making the necessary calculations for such;
• Formulating solutions and/or alternatives for complex technical problems;
• Making detailed designs for specific yacht systems;
• Carrying out basic FEM calculations;
• Producing construction engineering designs that are both practical and meet the standards;
• Analyzing, evaluating, and/or modifying the documents produced for completeness, correctness, cohesiveness, and consistency;
• Solving problems during the engineering phase and construction phase in consultation with the relevant parties involved;
• Contributing the necessary information as relevant for the development of planning schedules;
• Giving technical support to the Engineering department;
• Contributing towards innovation within the field of expertise in relation to working methods, construction engineering, and systems, and makes proposals for the practical application of such in the Limited Edition series;
• Being up-to-date with all the latest technical and regulatory developments in the field of expertise.

Lead Naval Engineer Job Requirements

Experience and education

• Bachelor's degree in naval architecture and practical knowledge of naval architecture;
• At least 7 years’ experience work experience in a similar position;
• Knowledge of yacht building is a plus;
• Good command of English;
• Analytical/team player.
