(BC-35) Researcher - Photonics Job Description

The Photonics Centre at the Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork invites applicants who will join established teams within the Photonic Centre, will carry out research in purpose-built photonic and microelectronic systems research facilities at Tyndall National Institute and will be involved in collaboration with other groups in Tyndall and elsewhere. Training opportunities will be provided to acquire additional experimental, circuit design and numerical research skills as appropriate.
Tyndall currently has an open position for a post-doctoral researcher to join our team in developing novel high performance visible LEDs. The activities cover material and structural design, process development, device fabrication and device characterisation. The position is in close collaboration with industrial partners.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of research and devices to targetted programmes in the Irish Photonic Integration Centre.
• Design, processing and characterisation of III-V devices.
• Maintaining accurate records in lab-books.
• Completing technical reports on a timely basis.
• Maintaining confidentiality with industry partners.
• Working collaboratively with other researchers including PhD students.
• Identifying intellectual property associated with research.
• Presenting results at project meetings and at conferences.
• Writing papers.
• Taking part in appropriate training and development opportunities as required.
