Project Component Engineer Job Description

The successful candidate will be liaising with suppliers and supporting program PMT meetings. Responsibilities will also include maintaining programme specific documents as outlined in GPDS, including the FMEA & DVP.

 
Experience:

The ideal candidate would have the following experience:

  • Component development experience will have ideally have been gained during time spent within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment.
  • Ability to agree/define requirements & targets with regard to quality, function, cost, timing, weight, and durability.
  • Work with component suppliers to ensure delivery to target and in line with program gateways.
  • Familiarity with the GPDS project management process.
  • Manage system interfaces with all affected PMT groups, to ensure continued compatibility with other systems and overall system performance.
  • Develop the design to ensure manufacturing and service operations can be achieved at maximum reliability and at minimum cost.
  • Familiar [but not essential] with the following engineering tools [or similar]:
    • WERS
    • Efdvs
    • AVBOM
    • Teamcentre
    • VisMockup
  • Strong candidates with a background in automotive engineering, with experience of component, system, materials and production processes used in manufacturing will also be considered.
 
 
 
Desired Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should have strong technical engineering communication skills and be able to work both closely within a team and independent of detailed supervision as required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of WERS releasing system.
 
Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of HNC/HND in relevant field, ideally educated to Degree level.
