Functional Database Administrator (DBA) Job Description

The main responsibilities of a Functional Database Administrator (DBA) are:

As the Functional Database Administrator (DBA) for our Amsterdam office you will be the custodian of our database infrastructure.

• Design, implement and maintain a database infrastructure ensuring optimal performance, availability and integrity of database services;
• Determine and monitor baselines;
• Create backup and recovery strategies for all databases/servers;
• Design and implement an authorisation structure and monitor this;
• Create and ensure availability of documentation with respect to the database infrastructure;
• Provide consultancy and support for developers and application engineers whose applications use the database infrastructure;
• Provide pro-active and autonomous resolution of incidents;
• Participate in various IT projects.

Functional Database Administrator (DBA) Job Requirements

As Optiver new Functional Database Administrator (DBA) you will need to recognise yourself in the following profile:

• At least 5 years of experience working as a DBA;
• Good knowledge of MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Informix, MySQL or Oracle;
• Excellent knowledge of Transact-SQL;
• Good knowledge of Windows environments on MCSE level. UNIX knowledge is a plus, the willingness to learn UNIX is a must;
• Development and/or scripting experience are a plus;
• The drive to learn new technologies as well as to expand your finance knowledge;
• You must be a strong communicator, pro-active, decisive, a team player and able to work effectively under pressure.
