Product Engineer Job Description
The main responsibilities of a Product Engineer are:
- Develop to be the specialist for the IAF filter element product range and manufacturing
- Provide an effective product engineering support to sales and project teams, for the IAF dust & oil mist filter elements within Europe, Middle-East and North Africa
- Main focus on expanding the filter range for my client and competitor units through NPP (New Product Proposal). Coordinate the whole process from NPP till NPR (New Product Release):
- Have a clear understanding of the product request
- Consolidate enquiries to map the total sales opportunity in close collaboration with Aftermarket Manager
- Provide a technical proposal (together with manufacturing plants and strategic suppliers) in order to have a cost effective and efficient design to gain market share (design around patents, upgrade competitor product, …)
- Provide cost calculations in close collaboration with my clients plant staff and purchasing
- Define the needs for new investment projects (tooling and equipment)
- Validate designs and benchmark against competitor product (lab tests)
- Provide all technical details to the CAD designer for creation of drawing package
- Make sure all documentation for datasheets, leaflets, brochures, announcements, the website and the price list is available and follow up implementation
- Take ownership of the complete product release to ensure quick availability of the new product for sales
- Clear communication with sales to update on release status
- Evaluate, approve and implement product change requests through ECP (Engineering Change Proposal) related to non filter elements of my client in order to ensure that these are acceptable and implemented in a cost effective way.
- Evaluate customer complaints (CCR) and find solutions through the 8D process
Product Engineer Job Requirements
What does Gentis require from a Product Engineer:
- You have a Technical or Commercial background with a strong technical interest in manufacturing techniques
- Ideally you have experience in project coordination
- Good communication and organizational skills are important
- You like taking initiatives
- You speak fluent English. Any other European language is an asset
