Provisioning / Support Engineer – Project Leader Job Description

Thinking Phone Networks is seeking a highly qualified provisioning/support engineer to join our team within a fast growing, business-focused Unified Communications provider as we expand into the European market with an initial presence in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate in this role will have more than five years of hands-on experience designing, provisioning, implementing, and supporting networks in an enterprise or service provider environment. You will combine your solid technical skills with excellent customer service and business analysis skills, working alongside our customers to analyze their current needs, train them as we work together to implement systems, provide guidance for integration of procedures, conduct provisioning demonstrations, and be the escalation point for any customer inquiries to resolve and meet their needs. The team works with open source initiatives like Asterisk and OpenSIPS. You will also have an opportunity to work directly with clients at all levels of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

• Design and provision new customer configurations in the Thinking Phones unified communications platform based on customer requirements
• Execute defined provisioning processes, checklists, and quality assurance mechanisms
• Work with customers to understand, document, and analyze their business requirements
• Manage many concurrent provisioning projects
• Provide status reporting to project managers around account activity and issues
• Interface with the customer / partner to gather and document complex technical requirements
• Serve as a mentor to provisioning engineers and analysts as we grow the team
• Ensure the technical tasks in the provisioning process are handled quickly and efficiently (network designs, circuit deployments, cutover / physical installations, etc.)
• Provide technical support to regional customers and partners and help build a local support organization

Provisioning / Support Engineer – Project Leader Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree at a recognized university required
• Fluent in written and spoken English, and at least one other language
• Comfortable participating in multiple projects simultaneously
• Comfortable interfacing directly with the customer and partner
• Able to explain complex technical concepts to a business audience
• Experience with Linux OS at the command line including editing, navigating and executing is strongly preferred
• Experience training customers on use of the Thinking Phones platform including voice, video and application components
• Configure handsets, network devices, and unified communication tools to be deployed in customer environments
• DID (direct inward dial) ordering, testing, and provisioning including using a collection of carrier specific tools
• Manage the number portability process for Thinking Phone Networks customers including CNAM and DL (directory listing)
• Order and manage the circuit installation process for TPN customers working closely with partner carriers
• Work closely with TPN certified vendors to conduct inside wiring surveys and then to manage the necessary wiring
• Organize and oversee shipping activity to and from customers and partners
• Manage physical inventory of network and phone equipment working with vendors as necessary

• Knowledge of the telecommunications industry including enterprise space
• Product exposure to technologies such as Juniper, Cisco, Polycom, Adtran is expected in this role; experience in these is strongly preferred
• Experience with various technologies like DIDs, Number Portability, TDM circuits, Data access DSL/Cable/T1/Metro Ethernet
• Experience with LAN/WAN networking (e.g. Routers, Switches, Firewalls / Cisco, Adtran, Juniper) is considered a strong asset
