Cloud Operations Senior Systems Engineer (.NET & Linux) Job Description
Seeking a Cloud Operations Systems Engineer for Oracle Taleo Learn production operations. High scale Learning Management System (LMS) focused on enterprise and small to medium business. We are looking for a strong technical individual to join us in the design and implementation of world-class processes and automation and help us build a highly scalable solution.
Responsibilities:
- Drive SaaS operations including performance management, implementation of SLAs
- Work with Windows, SQL Server, IIS and a custom datacenter operations
- Provide technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve business operations
- Develop corresponding operations and support procedures for application operations
- Participate in the design and realization of tools for a Dev Ops inspired backend management and monitoring system
- Work closely with Performance and Customer Services teams on customer-impacting incidents
- Work with product development team on establishing/reproducing root cause behavior
- Work with customer support teams on root cause Analysis Incident Response documentation
- Review of incident data and make recommendations for preventative measures
- Work with Development teams to identify trends in application defects
- Accumulate and publish incident and problem metrics on a periodic basis

- Continually monitor and tune application infrastructure to assure optimal performance, availability and utilization of resources
- Respond to monitoring alerts to quickly identify trouble source and implement resolution to avoid or reduce duration of an outage
- Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve issues impacting application operations
- Engineer and deploy releases, enhancements, and upgrades or new applications throughout non-production and production environments
- Maintain thorough knowledge of application design and engineering principles and applications within team's portfolio
Cloud Operations Senior Systems Engineer (.NET & Linux) Job Requirements
- 5+ years of strong experience as web/application administration engineer with expertise in supporting Microsoft
- 3+ years experience with MS SQL (2005 and 2008)
- 2+ years experience with deploying web applications to a Windows environment
- 2+ years experience with Windows based scripting (you will be asked to write scripts on a whiteboard)
- A strong team player, self-motivated, self-starter and with a great get it done work attitude
- Effective written and oral communication skills (must be able to articulate technical designs, strategies, and problems to management)
- Strong technical background in industry-standard infrastructure and application stacks
- As a 24X7X365 organization, shift work, holidays, weekends and on-call responsibilities may be required
- Experience with SaaS Operations, Cloud Operations
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced, high growth environment
- Good working experience with database platforms including MS SQL, My SQL, Oracle
- Knowledge of the interworking of ASP.Net and IIS
- Experience working with Windows based performance monitoring tools
- Ability to plan and execute projects with minimal oversight
- Knowledge of load balancing and high availability planning
- Strong experience in IT-related systems implementation, operations, and support
- Keen understanding of various disciplines and technologies such as Web, directory services, directory synchronization, web application security, databases, networking, infrastructure, and application development is the key to this position
- Expertise in supporting web applications based on Microsoft platform
Strong experience and Web Server Knowledge IIS7, IIS6, Apache, Java - Experience and ability to reverse engineer systems for troubleshooting.
- Thorough understanding of monitoring systems, monitoring methodologies and on-call processes/procedures
- Strong understanding of application architecture design and implementation
- Experience in using different testing tools, scripting, configuration management such as Chef / Puppet and automation skills
- Background in software engineering, service and support a plus
