The Engineering & Research Centre (ERC) serves as the core R&D centre for SKF worldwide and is based in the SKF Business & Technology Park, Nieuwegein in the Netherlands. Senior Ceramic Materials Researcher
Job profile
As a researcher, you will work on activities relating to ceramic bearing components with the objective of developing scientific knowledge and new technologies and providing expertise across the SKF Business Units. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and reporting on fundamental or applied research projects on ceramic materials, with regard to processing methods, properties and performance. The position entails a scientific focus in which you will be expected to collaborate with external specialists dealing with ceramics such as suppliers and universities, but also closely with internal product development and product line units responsible for ceramic products and hybrid bearings.
Job requirements:
• Academic degree (PhD preferred) in the area of Materials Science and more specifically ceramic materials, structural engineered ceramics properties, manufacturing and characterization or testing
• Five to seven years of practical experience in R&D on structural ceramic materials is preferred.
• You are skilled in the use of materials laboratory / testing equipment and performing own research activities and scientific analyses on obtained results.
• You are a self-motivated, pro-active team worker.
• You are customer-focused and result-oriented.
• You like to work in an international environment.
• You have excellent communication skills with a strong command of the English language.
